## Sizing & Fit
### How do I know which size to choose?
We have a comprehensive size guide that maps your bike's dimensions to the right Velosock. Visit our Full Size Guide (https://velosock.com/pages/full-size-guide) and measure your bike's outer wheel-to-wheel length. The Standard and Water-Repellent covers are stretchy and accommodate a wide range of geometries, while the Waterproof version uses a more rigid material with less stretch.
### Will the cover fit my e-bike?
Many e-bikes fit our covers, but the right model depends on your handlebar type:
- Drop bars (e-road bikes) → Road cover
- Flat bars (e-MTB, e-cruiser, e-hybrid) → MTB / E-Bike cover
- Aero bars → Triathlon cover
For larger or non-standard e-bikes, please contact us at support@velosock.com with your bike model so we can help you choose.
### Will it fit my XL or oversized bike?
Most XL bikes fit. Our covers stretch to accommodate frames up to 2.05m in overall length (1.90m for road bike covers). If you have an unusually long e-MTB or cargo-style frame, contact us at support@velosock.com with your bike model and we'll confirm fit before you order.
### Do you make covers for tandem bikes?
Not currently. Tandem covers are one of our most-requested products and we're evaluating them for future release. For now, our covers fit standard single-rider bikes only.
### Do you make covers for fat bikes?
We don't recommend our MTB cover for fat bikes due to the wider tires. Fat bikes typically have tires too wide for our standard MTB cut, which may result in a poor fit. We're considering a fat bike-specific cover for the future.
### Do you make covers for recumbent bikes?
Not at this time. Our covers are designed for upright bike geometries.
### Can a road bike fit into an MTB cover or vice versa?
We don't recommend mixing — road bikes and mountain bikes have different frame geometries. The MTB cover is wider with a flat-bar handlebar pocket; the road cover is shaped for drop bars. For best fit and protection, choose the cover designed for your bike type.
### What is the minimum bike size?
Our covers fit children's bikes from approximately 24" wheel size and up. Bikes smaller than that may sit too loosely inside.
### Will it fit a gravel bike with flat bars?
Yes — choose the MTB cover. The MTB cut accommodates flat-bar gravel bikes well.
### Will it fit a gravel bike with drop bars?
Yes — choose the Road cover. Most gravel bikes with drop bars fit comfortably, including those with tires up to 45mm.
### My Velosock opening for my bike rack is too narrow. What can I do?
This usually means we need to know your bike rack model to recommend a different attachment approach. Contact us at support@velosock.com with your rack model — most racks work fine with the existing zipper layout, but some may need a different cover model.

## Bike Compatibility
### What is the difference between Road, MTB, and Triathlon covers?
-
Road cover — designed for drop-bar bikes (road, gravel with drop bars). Tighter, more aerodynamic cut.
-
MTB / E-Bike cover — designed for flat-bar bikes (mountain bikes, hybrids, e-MTBs, e-cruisers, electric flat-bar bikes). Wider handlebar pocket.
-
Triathlon (TT) cover — designed for bikes with aero bars. Specifically shaped to accommodate the aero/TT cockpit.
### Are all e-bikes compatible with the cover?
Many e-bikes fit, but compatibility depends on the handlebar type and the overall length of the bike. Standard urban, hybrid and most e-MTBs typically fit the MTB / E-Bike cover.
For oversized, cargo-style or non-standard e-bikes, please contact us with your bike model so we can advise on fit.
### Do you have a cover for triathlon (TT) bikes with aerobars?
Yes. Our Triathlon Endurance cover (https://velosock.com/collections/bicycle-cover-for-car-rack/products/full-bike-cover-for-triathlon-endurance) is specifically designed to accommodate aero bars.
### Will Velosock fit a kid's bike or balance bike?
Bikes with 24" wheels or larger fit. Smaller children's bikes and balance bikes are too small for a snug fit.
### Do you make a cover for a recumbent bike?
Not currently.
### Will it fit a folding bike?
When the folding bike is unfolded — yes, our covers fit standard folding bikes. They're not designed to cover the bike when folded.
### Will it fit a bike with panniers / racks attached?
Pannier racks must be removed for the best fit. Velosock is designed to wrap around the bike's main silhouette without bulky external accessories.
---
## Car Rack & Transport
### Will Velosock work with my rear-mounted bike rack?
Velosock products are designed to be used as bicycle covers. They feature multiple zippers that provide flexibility for bikes mounted on rear bike racks.
Suitability and safe use during transport always depend on factors outside our control — including the vehicle, the rack, the bicycle, the installation, the load and the driving conditions. Use during transport must therefore be assessed and carried out by the user in accordance with the instructions and restrictions of the relevant vehicle and rack manufacturer, and in compliance with applicable road-use rules.
For questions about the suitability or permitted use of a specific rack or rack configuration, please refer to the rack manufacturer.
### Can the cover be used on a roof rack?
Velosock covers are designed for use on bicycles. We do not recommend their use on roof-mounted rack configurations.
Suitability and safety on any specific rack must be assessed by the user in accordance with the rack manufacturer's instructions and applicable road-use rules.
### Does one Velosock cover two bikes?
No — each Velosock covers one bike. For two bikes on a rack, you need two separate covers.
### Can I still secure or lock my bike with the cover on?
Yes. The multiple zippers on Velosock covers provide access points for rack arms, straps, and locking mechanisms, so you can secure your bike to the rack while the cover is in place.
Specific locking compatibility depends on your rack and lock setup. Please consult the rack manufacturer's instructions.
### Should I install the cover before or after mounting the bike on the rack?
For the best fit and protection, we recommend installing the cover on the bike before mounting the bike on the rack. Installing the cover after the bike is already mounted is significantly more difficult and may not result in a snug fit.
Always follow the rack manufacturer's instructions for proper bike mounting and securing.
### Can I drive at any speed with the cover on?
Velosock products are bicycle covers. We do not specify or recommend a maximum driving speed.
Vehicle speed during transport must always be determined by the user, taking into account the vehicle, the rack, the bicycle, the installation, the load, weather and wind conditions, and applicable road-use rules. Always observe the manufacturer instructions of your vehicle and bike rack, as well as posted speed limits.
### Can the cover be used during long-distance trips?
Many Velosock customers use the cover during extended trips. The stretchy elastic fabric is shaped to fit the bicycle's silhouette.
Suitability and safe use during transport always depend on the vehicle, the rack, the bicycle, the installation, the load and the driving conditions. Always follow the instructions and restrictions of your vehicle and rack manufacturer, and observe applicable road-use rules.
### Can I use the cover with a front-mounted bike rack?
Velosock products are designed to be used as bicycle covers. We do not provide guidance on use with front-mounted rack configurations, as wind dynamics and load conditions vary significantly.
Suitability for any specific rack configuration must be confirmed with the rack manufacturer, and use during transport must comply with the relevant vehicle, rack, and road-use rules.

## Materials & Quality
### What is the difference between Standard, Water-Repellent, and Waterproof covers?
-
Standard — lightweight stretchy fabric. Protects from dust and dry dirt. Best for indoor storage and dry-weather transport.
-
Water-Repellent (most popular for transport) — handles light rain, road spray, and salt. Breathable and quick-drying.
-
Waterproof (top-tier) — 3-layer fully waterproof fabric with army-grade waterproof zippers. Designed to provide the highest level of protection against rain, snow, dust and other elements during storage and transport.
### What's the difference between waterproof and water-repellent?
Water-repellent fabric is treated to resist light water exposure and works well in light rain or short drives in wet weather. Waterproof fabric is fully sealed and prevents any water from penetrating, even in heavy rain or prolonged transport. Waterproof is the top of the line.
### Is the fabric stretchy?
Yes — Standard and Water-Repellent covers are highly stretchy and adapt to different bike geometries. The Waterproof cover uses a thicker, more rigid 3-layer fabric and is less stretchy by design.
### Is the fabric treated for UV exposure?
The Waterproof version is treated for UV resistance. This treatment may help reduce the effects of prolonged sun exposure on the cover fabric itself.
### Does the cover help against salt air?
The Waterproof cover provides a higher level of resistance against airborne salt than the lighter options. Performance depends on the cover model and the conditions of use.
### Can I use the cover with studded tires?
We do not recommend using Velosock with studded tires. The studs may damage the fabric.
For non-studded tires, including knobby MTB tires, the covers are intended for repeated use under normal conditions.
### How heavy is each cover?
All three versions are similar in weight. The Waterproof is slightly heavier due to the 3-layer construction. Exact weights are listed on each product page.
### How long will the cover last?
Lifespan depends on usage frequency, conditions of use and care. The Waterproof version uses a denser construction than the lighter options.
Manufacturing defects are covered under our warranty (see the Defects & Warranty section).
---
## Weather Protection
### How well does the cover handle rain?
The Water-Repellent fabric is designed to resist light rain and road spray. The Waterproof fabric is designed to provide a higher level of resistance to water in more demanding conditions.
Real-world performance depends on the cover model, the duration and intensity of rain, the bicycle, and the transport setup.
### Does the cover help against winter road salt?
The Water-Repellent and Waterproof covers can help reduce contact between the bicycle and external elements such as road salt during transport. The Waterproof version provides a higher level of protection due to its denser construction.
Performance varies based on the cover model, the vehicle, the rack, the bicycle, and the trip conditions.
### Does the cover help against snow and ice?
The Waterproof cover is designed to provide a higher level of resistance to snow, ice and slush than the lighter cover options.
Performance during winter conditions depends on the duration of exposure, the trip conditions, and the bicycle setup.
### Does the cover trap moisture inside?
The Standard and Water-Repellent fabrics are breathable. The Waterproof version is sealed by design.
For long-term storage of a wet bike, we suggest letting the bicycle dry first or unzipping the cover to allow ventilation.
### Does the cover help keep my bike clean during a trip?
That is the primary purpose of Velosock covers — to help keep the bicycle protected from dust, dirt and road grime during storage and transport. Many customers report arriving with a clean bicycle after extended trips.
Actual performance depends on the cover model, the bicycle, the rack, the vehicle and the conditions during the trip.

### How often should I wash it?

### Can I use detergent?
Yes — a mild detergent is fine. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, which can damage the water-repellent or waterproof coatings.
